Hello,

can i use the TL-ER6020 (V1 or V2) only as switch and firewall for a small local home network?

the TL-ER6020 is not the gateway in the topology (i mean), its required to use the "ready modem" from the isp as gateway.

here is what i mean (topo)

[IB] ---> [TL-ER6020] ---> [SWITCH] ---> GOES TO [PC] and [WLAN]

IB = Standard Gateway 192.168.1.1 (DSL Router from ISP)

TL-ER6020 = NOT Gateway, in Topo in Pos. 2 (i will use the Firewall-Options, Switch-Functions and Stats)

SWITCH = Switch to split LAN and WLAN

Is it possible to use the TL-ER6020 in this Configuration (set not as Gateway)

What Config/Mode i must choose?

Hi

It will has the NAT between your switch and your gateway.

[IB] ---> [TL-ER6020] is a subnet.

[TL-ER6020]---> [SWITCH] ---> GOES TO [PC] and [WLAN] is another subnet.

Your clients still can access the internet. Just need to pass two NAT devices ([IB] and [TL-ER6020]).

And ER6020 will be the DHCP server.

If you need ER6020 be a switch, just only use the LAN port and do not use the WAN port. Disable the DHCP server feature. At this time, the firewall feature cannot take effect.

What functions of firewall do you want to use? All of them are going to work only with traffic WAN<->LAN.
