I'm curently deploying a couple of small networks using EAP245s. One using the dedicated controller and one with the EAPs manually configured.
The purpose of the thread is to get a feel if and approximately when we might see new devices that work in this enviroment that are 802.11ax.

@pdbrickhouse Yes, we are developing wifi6 EAPs. Some other brands released some wifi6 products, but they are high-level, like ax6000 or ax11000, and so expensive. I don't think you will use them as the wifi6 is not popular for wifi clients now. What we are developing are cost-effective wifi6 products. Just keep attention to Omada new products. We will release more new products than you think of this year.

Most devices still rely on 2.4Ghz range, it's only newer or flagship devices that have 5Ghz and most of these are still not WiFi6 ready - many of the smart-devices in my home do not have 5Ghz yet and I have only a single WiFi6 ready device.
While being able to buy kit ready to suport it is great - do you have anything that can use it at the moment? If no, wouldn't it be a waste of money to buy these if no one can use them?
It's the same with the MIMO 3x3 devices, if none of the devices using Wi-Fi are 3x3 MIMO capable, you wont get the benefits.
I would like to see EAP with WiFi6, but we're way off it being a standard.

Well, I have to disagree. We have an academic environment. 75% of our devices connect with 5 GHz. Having access points supporting up to 4x4:4 MU-MIMO or more for 5 GHz is a must have if you have not only dozens, but 50, 100, 150 or up to 600 students in one class room or lecture hall. What we are currently looking for, an inexpensive dual band access point (2.4 GHz with 4x4:4 MU-MIMO, 5 GHz with 4x4:4 MU-MIMO) Mediatek has its rather inexpensive MT7915 SoC ready to be purchase.

Out of the 40 ish WiFi devices in my home, 85% of them use 5GHz. The other 15% is just Smart bulbs, plugs, etc that don't support 5GHz. And a good 8 devices support WiFi 6.
Able to pull around 800mbps+ over WiFi 6 (with a WiFI 6 AP) those devices as well which is around 150mbps more than what I can get out of my EAP's

@mobb, the official final approval of the WiFi-6 (802.11ax) standard by the IEEE is expected for mid-2020. A subset of the standard has been finally approved just at the end of 2019 with additions in early 2020.
What are you expecting from manufacturers? Business devices are not known to implement draft standards very early and this is by intention.

Well I´m not talking about 802.11ax. Also, TP-Link offers 802.11ax non poe access points for a long time.
I´m talking about TP-Link´s PoE accesspoints (EAP business) line. Products were announced, but are still not available for purchase.(at lease not in Europe)

@mobb, EAP660 HD and EAP620 HD to which you were referring to in WirelessWolf's post, are WiFi-6/802.11ax EAPs.
TP-Link did not offer business-class WiFi-6 APs so far.
They did offer SOHO routers which implement drafts of the WiFi-6 standard, but in this forum (SMB) we are discussing business-class products, not SOHO gear.
If you are referring to other business-class EAPs than EAP660/620, please name them.
