Configurable names for clients show in EAP controller

Hi there
At the moment, it is really difficult to identify WIFI clients shown in the EAP controller / Omada software.
Can we have the ability to give names to clients, like we can for access points, please?
For example, we have a list of clients called "android-xxxxxxxxxxxx" but it would be good to show "Reception TV", "Meeting room TV", and so on.
It should be a single field to edit on the client details pop-up window, stored in the DB.
Without such names, it is not very useful. Adding these names, would be much better!

Supporting this request of setting up client name associated with MAC Adress. It is already possible to create a MAC Filter table where a name is associated with each MAC adress, creating a new view based on a MAC Filter table in the Client Monitoring window should be simple enough.
TP-Link will publish Omada SDN Controller recently, and it has added the function for changing the name of clients.

did you mean "real soon now" instead of "recently"? Because I don't see such a feature in the latest released omada controller software 3.2.9

It is available since v3.2.5 I believe . At least on the lastest OC200 controller version.

Yes, TP-Link will publish the Omada SDN Solution soon, maybe in the next few months, then you will see it in the official web site. We are doing the final test of Omada SDN Solution and products.

funny enough Apple Watch and 8 year old TV as well as smarthome devies are recognised by name but iphones and ipads are listed as unknow, go figure.
instead of simply adding feature to edit name, they should really look at fixing the DNS lookup.
my ubiquiti Edge Router identifies pretty much all devices with their name and pointing DNS on omada to it does absolutly nothing.
Is the new firmware going to remediate the noted issues?

There are three sources for hostnames: the WiFi hostname (to be defined in the client device), the DHCP hostname (defined in the DHCP server) and DNS hostnames (defined in the DNS server).
Most home networks don't run a DNS server, but only a DNS forwarder. Whether the DHCP hostname gets added to the DNS server depends on the DHCP/DNS servers (e.g. dnsmasq does so). BTW: my older iPhones report their WiFi hostname to the EAP and individual names are shown in Omada controller for them (»Username's iPhone« or if the Username is removed in the iPhone settings it shows just »iPhone«). Maybe Apple did change this in the meantime.
But you are right in my opinion: Omada controller should make a reverse DNS lookup as a last resort if it finds no WiFi hostname (as I did suggest already, too).
Well, home users were able to enforce this explicit name setting and so we soon will have a fourth source amongst the three above for defining a hostname.

Need to mention that I was ssssssooooooo disapointed to see this feature not available in the v.3.2.10 software update last week...
