Eap225-Outdoor resets 2.4 to 20/40
Eap225-Outdoor resets 2.4 to 20/40
Hi,
bought a new eap225 and it has been running fine, except a problem on wifi bandwidth.
I have set it to 20mhz on the 2.4 net but after a couple of hours it switches back to 20/40 and slows down the wifi speed for my clients.
running the last firmware from tp-link thailand homepage.
Thank you,
Amdy

Hi 2tall,
So sorry to reply you timely. Our engineers are reproducing and debugging the problem. But 2.4G 20Mhz is a better choice for business Wi-Fi environment to avoid the interference. We don't recommend our users to choose 40Mhz.

Sorry, I misunderstand your concern. Even if you choosed 20/40Mhz, the software will automatically to select 20Mhz and set. So, don't worry about it. It maybe a bug but won't affect the performance. We will confirm it and modify it later.

Hi Gary,
The problem is as follows:
If you select Only N on the 2.4 network and select 20Mhz, then the eap225 will sometime directly or after a couple of hours force it back to 20/40Mhz which is not optimal.
if you set 2.4 to bgn then it keeps it on 20Mhz.
So basicaly i want to run 2.4 with only N and 20Mhz which is not possible right now.

Hi 2tall,
20/40Mhz means the software will select 20Mhz or 40Mhz automatically. It hardly ever select 40Mzh as the RF interference. It will choose 20Mhz even if the setting is 20/40Mhz. So, I think it doesn't matter. Do you test the throughput in 20/40Mhz with 11n only and 20Mhz with 11b/g/n? It should be the same.

When i had it set to N only and 20Mhz i got 100mbit download speed, when it switched back to 20/40 i always got around 30mbit download speed.

Hi,
I have tested this issue in local lab. I used eap255-outdoor us 201809, set the 802.11n only, 20MHz channel width, 6 channel in 2.4G radio. We dis not reproduce this peoblem. I will keep the topology and continue to check this issue.
You can reset the EAP. If the peoblem still exist, you can try to re-upgrade the firmware for the eap, maybe it is some problems of the firmware

Hi,
We found a display bug of EAP225-Outdoor. When we choose 20MHz channel width, it may show 20/40MHz channel width in the web management page, but it is displays error of EAP, it may not influence the performance of EAP.
We will publish new firmware for EAP225-Outdoor which fixed this problem in these days. Then you can upgrade it to check if the problem still exist and does EAP225-Outdoor still have the low speed issue.
