We are glad to share you that we have published Omada Controller 2.7.0 (Windows), which mainly adds Mesh and 802.11 k/v Fast Roaming function.(Mesh and Fast Roaming function require EAP products support these functions and upgraded to corresponding firmware.)

For now:

EAP225-Outdoor_v1 with 1.3.0 180614 version firmware supports Mesh and 802.11 k/v Fast Roaming function.

EAP225_v3 with 2.3.0 180628 version firmware support 802.11 k/v Fast Roaming function.

Mesh function introduction:

With Mesh function enabled, EAP products can establish wireless network by connect to each other with wireless connection. It can simplify network topology and network installation time, greatly improve wireless signal coverage range.

802.11 k/v Fast roaming function introduction:

In large networks with multiple access points, wireless communication comes at the risk of disrupted connections when wireless devices hop between APs. Fast Roaming eliminates this risk by automatically switching devices from one AP to other with a smooth transition. This allows sensitive applications like VoIP and video conferences to go uninterrupted. Fast Roaming requires that wireless clients support 802.11k/v to take effect.

1. The release note of Omada Controller 2.7.0 (Windows)

New Feature/Enhancement:

1. Add support for Mesh networking which allows you to deploy EAP wirelessly.

2. Add support for Fast Roaming (802.11 k/v) which can improve user experience when roaming between the EAPs.

3. Add "Managed by others" status for the EAP managed by other Omada Controller before in Pending list.

4. Add username/password verification when forget and readopt disconnected EAPs.

5. Change the name of EAP Discover Utility to "Omada Discover Utility".

6. Optimize the SSID Override feature in EAP private configuration page.

7. Add icons for sea wave ceiling AP, wall-plate AP and Outdoor AP.

8. Enhance the security of sensitive information like Operator Password, Twilio AuthToken, Radius Password, etc.

Bug Fixes:

1. Fix the bug that the database volume grows too fast.

2. Fix the bug that EAP can't be managed immediately after reboot.

3. Fix the bug that the number of wireless clients on the Omada Controller page is inconsistent.

Note:

1. To use Omada Controller 2.7.x new features, you need to upgrade your EAP's firmware to the corresponding version.

2. Once upgraded to this version of Omada Controller, you will NOT be able to downgrade to an earlier version.

3. Portal configuration will be lost after upgraded to Omada Controller 2.7.X from 2.4.X or earlier version.

Bug Fixed:
1. Fixed the bug that SSID with special characters will lead to https portal redirection failure.
2. Fixed the bug that Rouge AP detection will report AP with positive RSSI value.
3. Fixed the bug that MacBook can't open https page due to macOS doesn't support 512bit certificate key.
