A new firmware
2.1.11 Build 20171228 Rel. 72837 for CPEs has been released today. Although it is listed as firmware for HW version 3, its FW version is 2.x and it installed fine on my CPE210 HW v1.0 and CPE510 HW v1.1.
From the release notes:
1. Fixed the WPA2 vulnerability.
2. Improved management VLAN performance.
3. Fixed the bug that sometimes the image can not be uploaded normally when using IE8.
4. Improved web UI display.
5. Fixed the bug that the "set source" can not be configured as a subnet range in SNMP.
Download links:
http://www.tp-link.com/de/download/CPE510_V3.html#Firmware
http://www.tp-link.com/de/download/CPE210_V3.html#Firmware
Note that the CPE210 firmware is for HW v3 and doesn't install on HW v1.0. However, I could install the CPE510 firmware also on CPE210 HW v1.0 as usual. For CPE210 HW v2/3 your mileage may vary.

Did you do the update by wired connection or wirelessly? Are you sure the power wasn't removed/glitching during the update?
If it's bricked, see https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-cpe510#debricking for a way to save it from trash.

DFS related disconnects
2018-03-03 22:54:54
I had couple of disconnects with 2.1.11 due to radar detection (i guess) and went back to 2.1.6. Sometimes the clients couldn't even reconnect after channel-switching.

excellent post thank you
i have 2 wbs210 v1.20 with 2 ant2424md that i had to order from australia and pay 200 us dollars in shipping just because i couldn't get them in USA because every seller kept telling that TP LINK discontinued those models
i always asked them, then why tp link kept selling the WBS series if their antennas are discontinued
anyway i got the antennas , i'm happy now
i also have 2 wbs510 v1.20 with 2 ant5830md those i was lucky enough to buy them from a USA seller
i did upgraded the firmware because i had the reboot of death and at first i thought that the unit was damage but when i switch mode
then the problem disappear then i find out that it was a bug in the firmware in router client mode
anyway i want to thank you about your post because i been waiting for a new firmware
i will flash all my 4 units later tonight
once again thanks

just to be clear, i had the reboot of death with the stock firmware but it disappears after i updated to the latest firmware based on the specific model
like the latest firmware for that particular version, in my case firmware for v1.20
however i always wonder about flashing the firmware with a higher version but i never did because i didn't want to risk damaging the device
but i always had the funny feeling that it might work in some cases where the changes between versions are minimal
the reason why i did it this time now is because you tested first and reported success
i had many tp links routers in the past, i'm a tp link fan, besides the WBS that i already told you
i have 2 WR841HP , 2 ARCHER C5 and two 24 grid antennas
back to the topic i did flashed the 2 WBS510 yesterday with the firmware that you mentioned and it did worked
both units are working perfectly fine, i haven't noticed or had any problem
i will flash the 2 WBS210 later tonight
once again thanks

Actually, some changes between versions have just been new logos on the device's housing due to the 20th year anniversary of TP-Link celebrated in 2016. A bunch of V2 devices appeared which had the same hardware as their predecessors, but different logos and in some cases minor SW fixes applicable to old HW versions, too.
i will flash the 2 WBS210 later tonight
once again thanks
Note that version 2.1.12 has just been released for the WBS210/WBS510 V2:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 r1d2 staff 4474779 13 Mar 19:20 Pharos-WBS210/WBS210(UN)_2.0-up-ver2-1-12-P1[20180202-rel58819].bin
-rwxr-xr-x 1 r1d2 staff 4474779 13 Mar 19:20 Pharos-WBS510/WBS510(UN)_2.0-up-ver2-1-12-P1[20180202-rel58819].bin
As usual, firmware V2.1.12 installs fine on my WBS210 HW v1.20. I don't have a WBS510 at hand to test it there, too.
Differences compared to previous versions:
- Despite the identical byte count the firmware files for WBS210 and WBS510 differ in first 48 bytes.
- WBS firmware images can not be used with CPE210 HW v1 as it was the case when Pharos firmware was identical on all WBS/CPE devices.

this i understand perfectly, both of my WBS210 and WBS510 are V1.20
i will flash both with that new firmware and report back
you already know about WBS210 because you already flashed and tested
i will test WBS510 for you and report back
once again thanks
