You need to buy USB to RS-232 cable firstly, then connect console cable to this USB to RS-232 cable. If you do like this, you can are able access your switch via CLI

Thank you for your response! Last week I found a serial port cable and installed it in the computer. Now I'm able to connect to the CLI/Console interface.

All of the CLI commands that I tried seem to work normally but the Ethernet ports are completely unresponsive. On startup, the CLI console displays, "Warning:... Failed to set initial mode: Feature unavailable." for each of the Ethernet ports.

I have done the factory reset. (It wiped the password and date/time.) But otherwise no change.
I would do a Firmware update, but I need the Ethernet connection, no?
I did a firmware update to TL-SG3210_V2_150714 about a month before the ports became unresponsive.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

please read appendix B,maybe it is useful for you.
Please I think TL-SG3210 do not support Xmodem, you can not upgrade firmware via console cable.
