Hooked this switch to my WiFi ISP router, and then connected my PS4 to it.

My Samsung S8+ mobile WiFi then showed the connection quality drop with a "internet may not be available" message come up.

After some stuffing around I noticed that the SG108E switch comes with DHCP turned off and a default IP address of 192.168.0.1 for its management interface

Since 192.168.01 is also my router IP it looks like it ended causing a routing loop causing the router to drop packets, possibly due to a cpu overload.

In any case , if you do buy this switch, turn DHCP on or check for any ip conflict with 192.168.0.1....why they ship it this way I'm not sure, but these consumer devices should be set up in a way they are idiot proof :-)

Hey dude, I think it's normal for a easy smart switch. You don't have to enable the DHCP on the switch, only need to change another IP for the switch like 192.168.0.10.

Right, it's a SOHO device, but also an entry-level device to the world of manageable switches. First lesson to learn for SOHO users operating a managed switch: get your IP right. ;) As Panda wrote: set a static IP for the switch, advantage is that it will be reachable without guessing the dynamic IP first.
