Portal without central EAP controller

Hello,
I am not familiar with the EAP product line, but I am looking for a wifi router with captive portal capability. Access control will be via a central RADIUS server.
Looking at the manual this would appear possible, but I've read that the portal functionality requires a EAP controller.
Could someone please confirm that it is possible to use the EAP product line without EAP controller?
Thanks!

Actually without EAP controller, you can also use EAP in standalone mode (managed by EAP's web interface without EAP controller), the standalone mode of EAP also support 3 kinds of Portal: No authentication, Local password, External Radius server.
So you can just use the portal of EAP to realize your requirement, refer to page 31 of UG: http://static.tp-link.com/1910012212_EAP_UG.pdf

The manual is right: the portal functions No Authentication, Local Password and External RADIUS Server don't require running an EAP Controller. Only portal functions Hotspot and External Portal require an EAP Controller.

Still a bit confused on how the wifi clients get their IP addresses. I noticed from the manual there is no DHCP server in the aep models.
Does the AEP honour HDCP offer from the radius server?

Any DHCP server in the EAP's subnet would fit. Usually, a RADIUS server does not serve DHCP clients, but if a DHCP server is running on the same system the RADIUS server is running on and if this system is located in the same subnet the EAPs are in, then yes, it will work.

Thanks. Clear.
All of our current installations have combined AP/Router functionality with built-in DHCP server, so this will be a bit different.
I would like to issue specific IP addresses to specific clients in our Radius database. I've ordered the EAP115 with wall mount which appears to do the job for us. It should arrive sometime next week.

Yes, routers usually have a DHCP server on board and WiFi routers also have an integrated AP making them an ideal all-in-one device for use in SOHO environments. But most business class APs are just this - APs.
