My device shows local only, yet when I go into settings the remote contol is on. Also, in the settings, I can not move the remote button to turn it off.
Any help?

what's the firmware version of your plug? I found this on the tplink website,
http://static.tp-link.com/iotUpgradeTool_V1.0.zip it's upgrade tool to install on the windows computer, then it will detect the plug and scan for a firmware upgrade. If no luck, you may reset the plug, otherwise contact tplink support
