I have other KASA switches and plugs connected.  The HS220 is new.  I bought 2.

I wired up the switches and they work fine when manually pushing the buttons.

The problem is they cannot be added to the KASA app.

I have reset the dimmer switch with 10 second hold.  I switched off Google Fi . 

The switch connects to my phone OK(see below screenshot).

Then there is a rotating circle icon for a minute or so.  Then the app shows the message "Unable to connect to your Smart Dimer WiFi" and lists some options. None work.(I have no VPN and the devices are only 4 meters from the TAPO Wifi router.)

 

I confirmed I can manually connect to the dimmer switch in the phone WiFi settings: it says Connected, no internet, then the phone automatically reconnects to my home wifi router(Tapo)   In the Wifi settings of my phone I can see both dimmers are available for connection.

 

Tried this solution and does not work.

  @El_Lobo so in the end after a call to support the only way to get it connected was as soon as I got the "Connection Successful" message, was to open my wi-fi on my phone and re-connect to the device wi-fi.

 

What are my other options?
