USing EP40A with outdoor christmas lights. Had the GFI trip 2-3 times during the pat 3 weeks. The plug end is in a covered outdoor receptacle. The EP40A is hanging down with the sockets down. Happens when it's preciptating. Anyone else having thi problem?
It shouldn't be a problem. I would first make sure that the plug is not too close to the ground where it could have water splashed back up. Water should run off of the plug when hanging with the sockets down. Make sure that, if there a plug is not being used, that it is also safe from rain.
It is possible that the lights themselves are causing an increased power draw from a short, triggering the GFI to trip.
