Last Week, the Tapo app received its major 3.0 app update! This update brought a streamlined design, new automations, widgets, and even compatibility for some Kasa Devices.

 

Ready to Meet the Tapo 3.0 App and Test the New Kasa Integration?

If you have never used the Tapo app but would like to try the New Kasa Integration, you will immediately see a few new features not yet available in the Kasa App.

 

Please remember that the Kasa Integration and features are still in development. Not all devices and features are currently available across both the Tapo and Kasa Apps and you may find bugs in the current implementation. Please Report all Bugs or Unexpected Behaviors on our Tapo Bug Report Forum Module.

 

What Kasa Devices Are Not Currently Available in the Tapo App?

Some devices are not yet available in the Tapo App, but compatibility is planned to be added soon. KP125M, EP40A, EP25(BLE), KS205, KS225, KS200, KS220, KS230KIT, KS240, and Some Others

Do I Need to Configure my Kasa Devices in the Tapo App or Will They Be Brought Automatically?

After linking your Kasa and Tapo Accounts, your previously configured devices will be available for control in both the Kasa and Tapo Apps.

Multiview for Camera Live Views View Multiple Cameras simultaneously for a Comprehensive View of Your Home	Home / Away Mode for Cameras Adjust your camera settings to align with your presence at home, or when you are away.
Activity Center (Cameras) Quick access to all the detection events of all cameras in a Timeline and Calendar View Filter Events using the Date, Device, or Detection Type (Doorbell, Motion, Pet, Person etc.)

 

 

 

What is the difference between Kasa and Tapo? 

The key difference is that Tapo will cover more categories of smart home and IoT devices, such as Smart Hubs, sensors, smart thermostats, and advanced security cameras, as well as increased compatibility with third-party services and protocols such as Apple HomeKit and the Matter Protocol. 

 

Kasa is expected to continue releasing and updating products for its four core product lines: Smart Switches, Cameras, Plugs, and Lighting; while Tapo will begin to expand into new product lines, such as sensors, door locks, vacuums, and hubs for its own low-energy protocol.
