  @BrianMal

Good to hear swapping the bulb fixed the issue with the status messages as well.

I agree with you about there being two issues.  I asked TP-Link if there is a minimum wattage load for this switch and if it is possible to reduce the debounce/settling time.

  @BrianMal I have the same problem with my two newly installed Tapo S515 switches. I wouldn't have noticed, but I tried to set up an automation where my under cabinet lights, plugged Tapo into smart outlets, would turn on and off with the ceiling light on the S515 switch. It "works" but whenever the LED circle blinks it triggers the cabinet lights to turn on then back off. It was driving me crazy! I thought Google was fighting with Tapo and wasted a bunch of time until I found out this is a known bug. I hope they fix it soon.

I think you have identified it. With my 4 watt load I was seeing 8-9 messages a night when the light was ON and with a 45 watt load, no messages. Over the weekend, I tried a 15 watt load and got 1-2 messages. I have some new bulbs arriving tomorrow that should give me about 18-20 watts so will see what they do. I hope they work.

  @BrianMal I have this issue also. The S515 LED will turn off briefly perhaps every 30 seconds. It might have missed my notice, but I set up an automation. My kitchen celing light is controlled by the S515. When I turn on the ceiling light, the automation routine also turns on two under cabiinet lights which are plugged into Tapo P125M smart outlets. That worked. But every 30 seconds or so, the cabinet lights cycled on/off! That's when I noticed the LED on the S515 turning off/on periodically. This makes my automation, the primary thing I wanted to accomplish, quite bad. The S515 signals to the network that it has been turned on/off, when it has not been. I really hope a new firmware fixes this problem.

  @Maetryx

Did you try downloading the latest firmware using the Tapu app? The latest version is 1.0.4 Build 250124 Rel.181840 and has been available for a couple of weeks.

It fixes many of erroneous message when the light is OFF. However, I am still seeing occational messages when I use really low wattage bulbs ( 4 watts) but these seem to disappear when the wattage gets above 20 watts. You can measure the wattage in the Tapo App.

  @Amuzing

I just received this reply from tp-link. It doesn't agree with what I am seeing. I am still working with them to test some different bulbs.

The S515 is equipped with an anti-creep function, with an anti-creep threshold of around 0.5W. It is possible for the power reading to fluctuate between 0 or around 0.5W. The product's 3-way detection function determines the state based on the power level, which may lead to the issue where "when the S515 is connected to a small load of less than 0.5W, the relay status may sometimes display incorrectly."

  @BrianMal I see no way to download a newer firmware than the one that I have, which is 1.03 Build 240730 Rel. 150900. My hardware version in 1.6. The Tapo app tells me "The firmware is currenlty up-to-date. Enjoy!" No menu I click into provides me a way to force it to recheck the firmware version, which it already autochecks every day. Any ideas?

  @Maetryx

I checked mine and it is definately 1.0.4 Build 250124 Rel.181840 and it says it is currently up to date. It was pushed to their server around January 27.

Where are you located as perhaps you are on a different server? I am located in the North-west USA.

Perhaps you should contact TP-LINK at support.usa@tp-link.com. My contacts there have been Scarlet Deng and Rachel. Lei

  @Maetryx

Updated firmware has just been released yesterday. 1.0.4 Build 250207 Rel. 194221.

I do not know what has changed but I was able to download it and I will continue monitoring it over the next few days to see if it resolves the sporadic messages.

  @BrianMal I submitted a ticked to TP-Link using that email address you shared, but it's too soon to have a response from them. I also reset my S515 switch to see if it would then download a newer firmware. It did not. So I'm just stumped as to why my switches (or Tapo App) are completely ignorant of the updates.
