Kasa app won’t work

kasa app won't connect to internet
was all fine with one smart plug, went to add a second and all stop working. Reloaded app, reset phone and plugs, reset wifi and app can't load past login screen as it just says can't connect to the internet.
please no suggestions about my wifi, it's fine or about app permissions, all fine too.
this is very frustrating anyone got any suggestions?

Set it all up on a different phone with my account and it started working again on the first phone. Must have been some bug in the app that got stuck on the permissions or my TP account login or something?

To log into the app you do not need Wi-Fi so if you are seeing that even on the cellular connection something else may be blocking connectivity.
Do you have a VPN connection enabled on your phone?
