Tapo robot vacuum returns to the charging dock but is unable to charge, and the device's battery level remains unchanged for an extended period.

 

Important Tips

It's essential to verify whether the robot vacuum has successfully docked with the charging station. Observe the LED indicators on both the vacuum and the charging dock after the connection to determine its success.

Troubleshooting Suggestions

 

1. Check whether both ends of the power adapter of the dock are plugged in.

2. Make sure the dock is placed on an even surface without any tilting. For the standard charging dock, check the bottom to prevent any foreign objects from causing uneven placement.

3. Ensure the LED indicators on both dock and robot vacuum change correctly.

4. Clean the charging contacts on the robot vacuum and the dock. Make sure the surface is free from any debris and the charging contacts are not stuck.

5. Power cycle robot vacuum.

  • Disconnect the robot vacuum from the charging dock
  • Reboot the robot vacuum with the side on/off button

 

Contact local TP-Link Technical support with the following information if the problem still exists. 

1. Detail the steps you've taken to troubleshoot, along with any changes you've noted in the device's status.

2. Device's Mac address or SN number.

3. A video demonstrating the manual charging process: Start by manually locating the robot vacuum and capturing the connection process with the dock. Align the charging contacts and film the moment of LED changes on both robot vacuum and the dock.

4. Pictures of the charging contacts on both robot vacuum and the dock.

Hi folks

 

I just found that my Tapo RV30 was unable to charge because...

....

Because one of the 3 arms of the lateral brush covered entirely one charging plate!

 

My compliments to the genius that put one charging plate in a position that can be covered by the brush

 

That said, my RV30 is charged again now, but it refuses to work, and both the soft and the hard reset workflow fail

 

The more expensive paperweight ever bought YUK

Thank you for your sharing. Is this the first time this has been discovered? 

 

Normally the side brush will continue spinning until the robot vacuum enters the charging state. Did you move the device manually back to the charging dock?

 

What happens to your robot vacuum now? What's the specific issue?  Any error?

the robot is apparently charged, but the pairing is impossible, both using the wi-fi or bluetooth

the soft and the hard reset don't work

when I click on the 2 buttons to try the reset, the only thing that may happen, sometimes and not always, is that it rotates 360°, and then it goes on the base

Do you mean you receive the error "Pairing Failed" during the configuration in the Tapo app? 

 

What router do you use? Does it have a separate 2.4GHz WiFi?

Do you mean you receive the error "Pairing Failed" during the configuration in the Tapo app? 

 

No, I mean that I cannot contact the robot with my app because clicking the 2 buttons to activate the pairing does nothing

So I have a charged robot that doesn't listen the app

 

About the router, it is an Archer MR505 with a SIM, and the router is in the same room, a few meters away from the robot

 

This router has the 2.4GHz WiFi option active only; so no 5GHz activated

 

BTW, I have a Tapo C100 cam as well, and pairing it was a matter of seconds

None of the buttons flash white after you long-press these two buttons? Or do they flash white but the app still cannot find the device?

 

Check whether the correct buttons are used.

None of the buttons flash white after you long-press these two buttons?


Not exactly

The Combination button on the right (4 dots) flashes for a while; then nothing happens apart a vocal message; unfortunately, I set the language as German as a joke because my wife studied German, but she is still unable to understand the speech, so both me and my wife are unable to understand the message completely
We only got that the robot speaks about "5 minutes etc."

 

And, because the 2 Combination buttons never flash, the app is unable to see the robot

 

I tried just now:

the Home button flashes green

when I hit the Combination buttons, after about 5 seconds the robot says Good - Ready (in German clearly), then the Home button becomes white...

Strange behavior to me

It seems your device is in child lock mode. Long-press the child lock button (the 4 dots) for 5s to exit child lock mode.

t seems your device is in child lock mode. Long-press the child lock button (the 4 dots) for 5s to exit child lock mode. 

 

It worked, thanks a lot!

I set the language to English, and I just completed the first test in my rumpus and the robot delivered

 

Tomorrow I'll do a more complex test I never did before, that is cleaning a room with an aperture to the rumpus stairs

I'll let you know how it will work

 

In the meanwhile, I noticed a thing: the robot stops itself sometimes without any apparent reason

a little "push" and it goes on: any suggestion about the reason?
