RE705X EU V1.0 connection drops after 1.1.4 firmware upgrade
RE705X EU V1.0 connection drops after 1.1.4 firmware upgrade
Dear TP-Link support and fellow users,
After upgrading to 1.1.4 firmware, my RE705X is extremely laggy and the connection drops at random times. The extender worked fine until the firmware upgrade.
I've tried hardware resetting both the router (Archer AX73 V2.0 F/W version 1.0.8) and the extender, after which I reconfigured them. The extender is literally 5 meters away from the router so this should be no problem.
Please help me with this issue, maybe with a beta firmware or with a way to downgrade. Thank you!
Best regards,
Serban

Hi, welcome to the community.
I saw on the release note of RE705X that After upgrading to this new 1.1.4 firmware, we cannot be downgraded back to the older 1.0.x version firmware.
So we might need to find another way to fix the current issue.
1. Have you experienced the same issue on the Ethernet connection from RE705x?
2. Would there be any change to the LED lights on RE705x during the disconnection?
3. How often do you usually get the disconnection or are you able to reproduce the disconnection in a short time on certain devices?
4. Do you need to restart RE705x to temporarily restore the connection?
Here are some suggestions for your reference:
1. Turn off EasyMesh on the RE705x.
2. Change the wireless channel on Archer AX73 to channel 11 for 2.4GHz, channel 48 for 5GHz.
Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

Hello David,
1. Haven't tried the Ethernet connection,
2. All LEDs are on.
3. All the time, it even jams my main network.
4. Restarting doesn't do anything, it behaves the same after rebooting.
In the meantime I've changed its location behind a wall and now seems to work properly. I'm utterly confused.
Could it suffer from some sort of electrical interference? It worked just fine in the first location before the firmware update.
Thank you,
Serban

I am having the same issue as well, also using Ax73 paired with RE705X, have you solved the issue ? Mine is disconnecting every 1 or 2 days , have been working fine u til a month ago. It is really annoying since I have to unplug the device and plug it in again to fix the issue.

@Ryuiu Nope, still not fixed despite upgrading the firmware of the AX73. I have gigabit internet and Wi-Fi works like cr@p because of that damn RE705X. After this I'm not ever buying TP-Link again. They're simply ignoring us.

I have the exact version, I cannot downgrade and 5G drops at random times. No new firmware upgrade also.

@trktrktrk Also Wi-Fi calling doesn't work properly unless I take out that damn extender. I've never hated any piece of equipment so bad.

@MMXTHEDUDE same here. I have to go to the room, unplug it, and plug it back.

Are you also using Archer AX73 and RE705X? Please make sure the firmware of the AX73 is up-to-date first, then we would like to have more details about the issue you're experiencing.
How about the LEDs on the RE705X when the 5G drops? If you remove the RE from the network, is the 5G wireless of the AX73 stable?
Try to disable EasyMesh on the RE and observe if the connection will be stable. Please also provide more details as asked by David, which would be very helpful to speed up the troubleshooting process:

Except for the RE firmware update, are there any other changes in the network? Please also update and install the latest official firmware on the main AX73, which is 1.0.12 now.
Did you connect any other devices in the network or near the extender that may cause interference?
If possible, we may also suggest resetting the RE to factory defaults and reconfiguring it to connect the the main network to help check if that will help.
