Deco XE75 port 1 no longer working
Good day. A few months ago lost my internet connection and after no luck debugging the issue I simply swap my ISP ethernet cable from port 1 to 3
- Before swaping: Port 1 ISP. Port 2 Deco Secondary unit. Port 3 Switch
- After swaping. Port 1 Switch. Port 2 Deco Secondary unit. Port 3 Switch
Several weeks later there were some power outages due rain & wind. Internet and Deco units recovered but devices connected to switch were no longer accesible
- Removing the swicth and connecting the device (example. laptop) to port 1 didn't fix the issue (no switch issue)
- Ethernet cables working as intended (neither failure here)
- Attempt several scenarios (cant recall them) but ultimately only port 2 & 3 were working as intended
Upgrading to 1.2.6 didn't fix the issue and just yesterday I update to beta firmware 1.2.7 with promising results yet still issues
My results
- 2 XE75 Deco units
- Device and connection seems stable. No performance or disconnection issues so far
- Ethernet port 1 is empty, port 2 goes to a switch, port 3 goes to ISP
- Port 2 switch has on it: 1. Ethernet connection to Arlo hub station (security cameras), 2. Ethernet connection to network HDD, 3. Ethernet connection to another Deco XE75 unit
- Main Deco Working scenarios
- Scenario 1: Port 1 empty. Port 2 switch. Port 3 ISP. Secondary Deco working as intended.
- Scenario 2: Port 1 empty. Port 2 ISP. Port 3, switch. Seocndary Deco working as intended
- Main Deco NOT working scenarios
- Scenario 3. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 switch. Port 3 empty (no IP, red light, no internet)
- Scenario 4. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 empty. Port 3 switch (no IP, red light, no internet)
- Scenario 5. Port 1 switch (w/o Deco unit). Port 2 ISP. Port 3 empty (there's internet, Secondary Deco works, but whatever is connected to the switch will be unaccessible)
- Scenario 6. Port 1 switch (w/o Deco unit). Port 2 ISP. Port 3 Secondary Deco unit (There's internet, Secondary Deco works as well but devices connected to switch are unaccessible)
- Scenario 7. Port 1 switch (w Deco unit). Port 2 ISP. Port 3 empty (There's internet at first, but after a few minutes the whole internet will stop working, including internet WiFi)
- In brief
- Whatever is connected to port 1 is NOT detected by Deco App
- Whatever is connected to port 1 will not have internet
- If there's another Deco unit connected to port 1 via a switch it will likely crash the Internet at all, including WiFi
After this, did swap Deco roles
- Working scenarios (Main Deco, used to be Secondary)
- Scenario 1: Port 1 empty. Port 2 switch. Port 3 ISP. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 2: Port 1 empty. Port 2 ISP. Port 3, switch. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 3. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 switch. Port 3 empty. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 4. Port 1 ISP. Port 2 empty. Port 3 switch. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 5. Port 1 switch. Port 2 ISP. Port 3 empty. Secondary Deco working as well
- Scenario 6. Port 1 switch. Port 2 any device. Port 3 ISP. Secondary Deco working as well
- Secondary Deco (old Main Deco) WORKS if connected via port 2 or 3
- NOT working scenarios
- Old main deco (now secondary deco) NO working if connected via Ethernet port 1
Looks like Ethernet port 1 is my issue... Any way to figure out the root cause? Port no longer working? Really doesn't make sense that only 1 port is no longer working

@AGMV it's too strange all of us have this problem on port ONE. A port can be defective, sure, but not port ONE everytime! It sounds to me as a low level problem with the sw managing the lan port. Maybe it's stuck in "wan mode" so no ip is assigned, maybe it's something else.

Thank you very much for the feedback.
Most of the feedback I have received is about Deco XE75_V1.
But not all of them are proved to be the same issue.
So if you have experienced the similar issue, please run the following test first:
1. Please go to Deco APP>More>Advanced>IPTV/VLAN and make sure they are both disabled if no IPTV service is required.
2. Please connect the laptop to the other port of the same Deco XE75 and confirm the PC works well on a different Ethernet port.
After that, if just the top Ethernet port is no longer working, please contact the local support office to ask for warranty service first.
Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi, i don't even have this IPTV option in the APP, probably as i am in access point mode.
I can confirm everything works ok plugged in the other two ports.
Thanks.

Please note I have the exact same problem on my x95.
Router mode, IPTV turned off. Checked the other ports.
(After all the issues with the M9 Pro, why did I ever give TP-Link a second chance... )

I confirm both of the steps that you mentioned. When IPTV/VLAN disabled and cable plugged into port 1, PCs know the ethernet is plugged in and wait for IP assignment for a while, but do not get any at the end. There is no issue on port 2 and 3. Considering all these people experience the same problem with the same port (even on different models) and there seems to be a connection on the port, to me this seems like a firmware issue.
Furthermore, it is now more than a year for me and warranty is not valid anymore. Additionally, I am in a different country than the one I bought the units. Please check in detail if it is indeed a firmware issue.

Did you try to assign a static ip to the PC and connect to port 1?
Maybe dhcp server can't somehow assign an ip dinamically to port 1.
If it works whit fixed ip it's definety a firmware.

After your suggestion, I tried address reservation and static routing, but they didn't really help. Same issue persists.

Thank you!
"no internet", so connection is detected but no communication. That's weird too, for an hardware failure. I don't have any clues.

Hi, i did have the same issue this morning. When i woke up i had wifi for 5 min and then nothing. It seems that the port 1 for ethernet of my main deco is not working anymore but port 2 and 3 works fine.I have the latest firmware installed (1.2.8). I bought the XE75 in a bundle of 3. The 2 other deco has no problems with the first port or the 2 other ones. Maybe there's something wrong with the latest firmware update Tp-link has pushed? This can't be a hardware issue if everyone has the same problem at the same time aproximatively on the same ethernet port (n°1).
Kind regards

Port 1 stopped assigning IP after the firmware upgrade (to 1.2.8) in my case too, but strangely reverting to the previous firmware didn't fix it. However, I do still think the cause is the latest firmware. It seems that it broke something and nothing fixes it at the moment.
