Implemented Deco M4 does not allow WiFi password with blank spaces
Hello,
After the new App ugprade or firmware I realized that I cannot change any settings because the app say "Blank spaces are not allowed" in password field. Amazing.....
Furthermore during the upgrade the guest network was changed to isolate clients. This setting was changed "magically" because the guest network is used for smart devices like lights, blinds, switches, etc. Once was turned in isolated mode my house stop to work as expected.
My decos are in AP mode.
Please take the necessary actions to fix this issue.
KR,
Pedro.

Hi @David-TP
I could understand that trim blank spaces on left and right side of a password is a normal procedure. Avoid blank space inside password string is not good at all.
The IEEE Std. 80211.i-2004 Annex H.4.1 it's quite clear about pre shared key format. Blank spaces are included so please revert the change to be complaint with WiFi standards.
Add a warning but not block blank spaces.

Pedro.

Hi, Thanks for sharing your idea with us.
I do agree a warning is better than blocking it completely. It has been reported to the senior engineers but so far there hasn't been a clear plan to optimize it.
I will move this post to the Feature request and check whether there are more users with the same request.
Thank you again and best regards.

Yes please fix this. Just got a Deco and now I will have to reprogram every single device on my network with the new password since the old one had spaces.

Amazing answer. Maybe tomorrow you think the letter "M" is a problem and create a patch to remove them from password...
Honesty it's totally crazy this situation, the person that give the green light to that "feature" should be fired.
Ok, do what you want, I will not buy any TP-LINK product anymore.
For those that face the same issue, download a previous version of apk and that's all, the change was in presentation layer. Hopefully they didn't change it at firmware level.
KR,
Pedro.
