TL-MR6400 disconnected many times per day
Hi everybody,
My Internet left many times per day on my TL-MR6400 v4, just bought....
When the problem happened, all lights of the modem are on.
I saw many users have same problem with different models of 4G modem. I saw answers given by tp-link staff.
So I create a manual apn profile, set manual dns servers on dhcp menu (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), check 4G connection with my phone but the problem is persistent.
Nothing appears in the system log, all steps indicate "pass" in diagnostic menu...
So I need to reboot the modem and it works again. So please help

Same problem here. I have to keep a constant connection to the internet, otherwise the router goes to sleep.
Tp link Romania was not helpful at all. They tried to tell me that it is because of my provider, the most popular provider here. Low quality service.
Please send me also the beta firmware.

@Kevin_Z, So I have taken a lot of time to test the stability of the TL-MR6400. And unfortunately it's still super bad.
After testing for months, I can conclude that this router is just unstable. It keeps disconnecting at an average of 3 times a day at random times.
In the beginning it looked like it went better, with the test firmware. But that was just a very short moment.
After testing much longer, I saw that the router kept dropping the connection and refusing to reconnect.
Every time it's the same. Day in, day out.
This router should be taken off the market, because it's causing A LOT of problems, and I am pretty sick and tired of TP-Link support using their customers as their testing staff.
There's no point in testing this thing any further. Sorry, but it's just a piece of crap.
I will start looking now for a reliable router that actually works and does it job.
And when I have it, I will throw the TL-MR6400 in the garbage bin, where it belongs.
I doubt, I will ever again buy a TP-Link device.

@Zax71 What router did you buy to replace the TL-MR6400?
I want to buy another one too.
And when it works, I'll throw this TL-MR6400 in the garbage, where it belongs.

I bougth an Huawai b535 and I solved my problem.
Moreover, with a simple hack you are able to choose your preferred band and override the automatism that sometimes puts you in the slower band.
My connection now it's more stable.

@Zax71 Thanks. Can you attach an external antenna to it? I have two cables coming in from an outside antenna.
Like the tp-link has two antennas, which I removed. And connected the 2 cables from the outside antenna to them.
Can I do that with the Huawai b535 too? I checked on Amazon and saw no antenna connectors on the images.
However, I do see this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/HUAWEI-02231GXA-B593-Antenna-External/dp/B00J7JFV54
(externl antena's). So there should be two connectors on which you can connect them.
Can you please confirm if the Huawai b535 has 2 antenna screwable (SMA) connectors?

I will send the router back today and buy the Huawei device. I'm sorry for TP-Link but the support is bad and the device is very unstable.

@Gimpi For me it's too late to send the TP-Link back, so I will throw it away. Today I also order the Huawei. I saw on a video on Youtube that it is possible to connect an external antenna. (on the back there is a lid. Behind it, there are 2 antenna connectors. Exactly what I need. I hope that the Huawei is better than this TP-Link garbage.
