Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Took over a network with 12 devices. As the former manager did not provide logins, I factory resetted the controller and upgraded the firmware. Then had to upgrade all devices to a firmware which was compatible with the controller. Everything went fine, except that an EAP225 Outdoor which formerly was controlled showed up without ip address. Resetting it did not help and after investigation it was found to be broken. It still sits in the device list and cannot be forgotten, as it looks like it been mesh connected and the only thing I can do is to connect it to another device. Spooky, as the device is not present anymore in the network.

So what options DO you have under the Devices tab, when you select the ghost AP, then on the Device tab, under Config->Manage Device?

A normal 225 look like this for me:

Hi, cannot access that screen for this device.

I get only this:

Adopt gives a list of AP:s to connect to. This AP was originally "meshed".

You could probably manually remove the device via the API, but it does look like a bug that maybe should have a ticket opened.

I assume there's no way to temporarily attach that device to wired port and see if it comes back online enough for you to 'forget' it?

Also, there are way to try to recover a bricked AP, if it was 'broken' during the upgrade cycle.

Hello @Etcetera

May I know the firmware version of your controller?

If you power off the EAP225-Outdoor, does the issue still occur?

Did you see the light flashes on the EAP when you reset it?

  @Hank21

Version: 5.7.6

Firmware: 1.21.7 Build 20221206 Rel.58

The outdoor AP has been removed, since it did not work anymore (did not receive ip address and was not accessible). It still shows up in the Device list as "Managed by others" and the wireless sign. It was "meshed" I'm told. We took over this instance from another operator, who did not help us migrating these AP:s to our account. We had to factory reset the controller and manually reset all the Ap:s. The controller came up showing this Outdoor AP without IP and resetting it several times did not help. The light did flash but now it's completely dead and removed from the network. It,s a mystery to me, why it hangs in there and cannot be removed or "forgotten"

Hi @Etcetera

Controller has released a newer firmware version V5.9, could you upgrade the controller firmware version to it and test it again?

You may refer to this.
