Hi all,

I am using tp-link archer VR1600v, and I am trying to use the bandwidth control to limit certain computers to have a max download and upload speed. Now, when I turn the bandwidth Control on and put in any number higher then 40000 kbps (40mbps) it makes all pc's maximum 40 mbps download speed. Without bandwidth control turned on it is at maximum 100mbps. (My internet speed can reach 100mpbs) Why is this happening? It doesn't matter what number I use, if its higher then 40000 kps, i could put 80000kbps and it still limits it to 40000kbps (40mbps).

How can i fix this?

I have no controlling rules, so this should not happen?

Thank you.

@Steven1221

Thanks for your reply. With bandwidth control enabled, the traffic data will be handled by CPU, which will decrease the speed you can get.

Generally speaking, we enable bandwidth control to satisfy necessary network activities when the bandwidth paid is not enough. The current bandwidth is 100Mbps which is adequate to meet daily network needs, you do not have to use bandwidth control.

@Kevin_Z I need to use the banwidth control on my modem, because i have multiple people playing online pc games at once, and for some reason if more than one person using the internet, it causing the games to lag. It seems to give one person all the bandwidth for a bit, then gives another all the bandwidth, then move on to another etc etc etc.

So I need to to use this, so we can all have an allocated amount of bandwidth for example: one pc has access to max 30mbps, then the next 30mbps then the next one 40 mbps. Since i have access to only 40mbps when bandwidth control is turned on, i have little bandwidth to give out between the different computers

@Steven1221

Hello,

Would you please send us the screenshot of the bandwidth control settings page? What's the download/upload bandwidth that you paid?

Please also send us the computer's IP address page and speed test page.

Good day.
